Ohatchee Hillside Reclaimed
We transformed this steep, eroding hillside at an Alabama lake house into a stable, accessible, and beautiful landscape. The project began with a challenging 100-by-100-foot slope that had become difficult to maintain after trees were removed to open views of the lake.
Dirt Lockers were strategically installed throughout the hillside to help control erosion, stabilize the soil, and create planting areas across the steep terrain. Paver steps and pathways were incorporated to make navigating the hillside easier while providing practical access to the lake. Carefully selected plants were added to enhance the natural setting and create a more attractive, manageable landscape for the homeowners.
Smyrna Woodland Retreat
Explore how we transformed this wooded Smyrna property into a more functional, inviting outdoor retreat while honoring the home’s 1950s character and restoring a sense of its original glory. The project began with a complete site cleanup, clearing overgrowth and creating a clean foundation for the new landscape. A flagstone patio and winding slate chip walkways now provide defined spaces for gathering and exploring throughout the property.
Varden Plantable Walls and Dirt Lockers were incorporated to address the site's slopes while creating additional opportunities for layered planting. Carefully selected plants were added throughout the landscape to bring color, texture, and seasonal interest beneath the existing tree canopy.
